التتابع الجيولوجي الخاص Synthem هو وحدة تتابع طبقات الأرض محدودة بعدم التوافق. ويشير إلى تتابع رئيسي لطبقات الصخور (a stratigraphic unit) that is set apart from the layers above and below it by unconformities, which are gaps in the geologic record. In simple terms, a synthem is a rock body that represents a period of continuous deposition, bounded by periods where deposition stopped or erosion occurred.
