This template's initial visibility currently defaults to autocollapse, meaning that if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar; if not, it is fully visible.

To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used:

 Smallcaps

Terms in small capitals ("smallcaps") are terms used (in English and/or translation) by ten or more countries, i.e. there are at least ten distinct entries under their headings in [[List of terms for contemporary administrative country subdivisions]] – now deleted apparently without any replacement, though try Table of administrative divisions by country. "Capital" is by definition commonly used.
