السرقة Theft هي أخذ الشئ في خفية, يقال استرق السمع أي سمع مستخفيا و في القرأن الكريم (إلا من استرق السمع فاتبعه شهاب مبين) سورة الحجر

و يمكن تعريف السرقة بثلاثة أمور :

1. أخد مال الغير
2. أن يكون هذا الأخذ على الاختفاء و الاستتار
3. أن يكون المال محرزا

فأذا تحققت هذه الأمور الثلاثة تكون سرقة و موجبه للحد

 عقوبة السرقة في الإسلام

إذا ثبتت جريمة السرقة وجب إقامة الحد علي السارق فتقطع يده اليمنى من مفصل الكف لقول الله تعالى (و السارق و السارقة فاقطعوا أيديهما), و إذا سرق ثانية تقطع يده اليسرى و إذا سرق ثالثا تقطع رجله اليمنى

ولا يعتبر المختلس والناهب والخائن سارقاً ولا يجب على أي منهم الحد.
